First Aid

Basic life support refers to the emergency assistance that is given to an individual to contribute to their immediate survival.
Basic Life support consists of.
” A Primary Survey (DR. ABCD)
• Airway Maintenance & Breathing
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
You administer basic life support to maintain an individual’s airways, breathing, and circulation until the emergency medical services arrive.

An individual’s chances of survival increase dramatically if they are given basic life support in the time it takes for paramedics to arrive
This course will cover basic life support for adults, children, and infants. The Resuscitation Guidelines UK state that:
• An infant is a baby under 1 year of age
• A child is between 1 and 18 years of age
An adult is 18 years old and above
